Whakatane Town Vision Plan

A town centre…. We can be proud of…have your say. An exciting plan has been released to guide the future development of the Whakatane Town Centre (CBD). Ideas are taking shape to LINK THE TOWN, RIVER and the PEOPLE.

The Town Vision provides a framework by which the Council, developers and the wider community can collectively protect those special features that maintain the character of the town centre.

Over the last year the Council has worked with property owners, developers, business, key stakeholders and the community to gather views and input which helped in developing some initial ideas and concepts.

By working together, we can create a special place for locals and visitors to enjoy: a destination rich in natural and cultural heritage, accessible to all, which supports success and innovative businesses and celebrates our distinct identity.
